As humans, as animals, it’s in our best interest to be attractive to a mate, to either procreate or form companionship, especially as social animals. This is the frame I’m looking through as I write. The cosmetics, beauty, fashion, electronics, vehicle industry builds on this. Many times, marketers position their goods and services to appear as something attractive people do/have.
We do a lot of work and make many decisions daily, hourly on what makes us more attractive to friends, potential or current mates; attractive to maintaining our stay in society. Capitalism bets on this, so those who own lands, businesses, resources can make more of what’s truly attractive to me: lands, businesses, resources. This is another frame I’m looking through – what I deem as attractive.
So, this week I asked myself, what am I doing to attract Money. This month I learned from the Jewish Religion that money is seen by them not as a commodity/tender or a physical item. Jews see money as a spirt, an energy. The more people you work with, the more people you benefit, the more they pass on their spirt/ energy to you as gratitude. So, instead of adjusting my clothes, hair, home décor and car features to better attract someone / people/ clique, what am I doing to attract the energy of people to flow to me?
I haven’t written a blog entry in a long time, so this one I am thinking will be long, as I choose to write and think at the same time on this discovery.
The first thing I’m thinking about is what services do I provide? At what cost? Currently I build basic websites for $75,000. This price I find to be a standard international price for a custom website. However, my sales are very low, and my customers are in Jamaica. The economy in Jamaica is not international standard, so should my prices be there or match with the economy for better economics? Do I hold ‘my value’ or do I ‘just buy necessities, give up on wants’.
There are a lot of things to consider here, but the direction I want to go is, I should really be focusing on getting more people to give me gratitude, so I should focus on getting more people and the way to get more people is to match their pricing needs. Before I get there, I have to decide/find out what creates the frame of ‘my value’. Is it that I have chosen the type of client I want, these clients will value me, yet not know the market size of that type of client (hence very low sales). Or, is it that I value my time, and thus wish to reduce the amount of jobs I do? What made me place my value at that price? These first two came to mind, and I strongly believe that’s where my mind is/was.
A next thing is that people generally do not know the value of anything. There is not set value of any man made thing, it’s all associated, inferred or passed on number from someone else. I say this because I’ve done the service for a lower price and have seen customers still struggle to pay. So is it that people may follow any price even if they can’t pay? Or is it I’m just attracting financially strong customers? Or is it that I haven’t heeded advice to test multiple pricing points to find the best place providing the best customers.
As I write this, I keep getting side tracked for 10 min periods or so, thinking of new business ideas. I do feel I lack the sight to see problems. As much as I can find multiple and great solutions to problems, someone has to show me the problem first. Maybe that’s obvious, but I don’t see it makes more sense to not build something that ‘would be nice to have’ but instead build something that ‘people want, request, clearly need’. That would be a way to allow attraction of gratitude – because what was once a problem is no longer.
The point is, what am I doing to attract gratitude, spirt, energy from the people around me? First thought, since I’m so good at solving problems, my first habit to forge is to regularly contact people and find out what problems they have. Find ways to solve those problems, or move on to the next person. I just made a what’s app status post asking people what problems they are having now, they would pay J$5000 or less to fix. But that’s just a baby step, I want to call persons and have one-on-one conversations.
Secondly? Thinking…. what am I doing to attract gratitude, spirt, energy from the people around me? Change my prices. Everyone wants the same thing – their goals/wishes satisfied. However everyone has their own characteristics, lifestyles, interests and obviously – different goals and wishes. Since most of my services are custom built (which is a whole other blog entry/point on, how I can help more people with digital/ mass produced repeat goods, thus bring in more gratitude), I can therefor allow my customers to choose how much they can spend on this satisfaction, and then I produce that custom service that gets that done, and that gratitude to me. So the next thing I’ll be doing is getting my prices to match my customers.
Is there a third? The world loves threes. Thinking…. what am I doing to attract gratitude, spirt, energy from the people around me? Let me look online see what others are saying. It’s now been 15 minutes researching online, on thing interesting so far is a mention of Step 1 – which cased me to remember to follow up with a potential customer, so I sent an email. Back to Research. It’s been another two minutes – Third should be to hire people, and not fear that responsibility of finding their salary, but offer an opportunity for other to earn it on their own with my guidance. However, I’m not ready to take that on yet. It’s been another 20 minutes, there is a point being made about having a specific kind of wallet or purse that would attract money. There is a piece of this I’d like to appropriate, but I’ll finish my research before I decide if this is the third step. 10 minutes later, I’m done the research on blogs, news articles and videos.
My third step to attracting wealth, is with my next paycheque, use a small portion, like J$2000 to buy myself a nice pouch, big enough to fit an unfolded cheque in it. Every time I’m talking with a client, I want to be holding this pouch. Every time I go to collect a cheque, or carry it to the bank, I want to be holding this pouch. My mind will have this symbol of ushering money to me, through this pouch, the conveyor. Going forward, I want to remember that solving people’s problems will always make me attractive to people. I want to now focus on attracting gratitude from the people around me by always enquiring of their problems, providing solutions at a value they have in mind, and being always ready to collect that value, receive the gratitude.
